What is Tales of August?

An experimental anthology of short stories.

I used to do a lot of writing, but lately I've been putting my creative mind to other hobbies. It's time to dust off my (virtual) notebook, and do something to get back into writing. That's where Tales of August comes in.

For the month of August, I'm going to write one story every day. Each story doesn't have to be good, but it does need to be at least 500 words (and ideally no more than 2000 words) in length. The goal here is two-fold: I want to practice coming up with new ideas, and get into the habit of writing frequently.

I have a problem of coming up with ideas, but never executing them. They sit in my brain, and keep me from coming up with new concepts. The "maybe" backlog has grown too big, and needs to be flushed out. By pairing down the number of words I have for each story, I'll force myself to actually use ideas instead of sitting on them, and I'll keep any bad ideas from dragging down the exercise.
